Make a pantry list that stays useful

Work through one shelf and record the foods you regularly use. Keep products in appropriate storage and retain their labels, including dates and allergy information. Do not combine unidentified leftovers into a new container.

Group items in a way that matches your cooking habits. Put things you need to use sooner where they are easy to notice, while following the product’s storage instructions.

Use the list when planning a few meals, then update it as items are used. A short, current inventory is more useful than a complete spreadsheet that no longer reflects the cupboard.
